  • ReadWriteThink : Lesson Plan: To, Too, or Two: Developing an Understanding of Homophones: To, Too, or Two: Developing an Understanding of Homophones grades 3-5 I know throughout the year my students had trouble distinguishing between the three of these words. I used a flip book to aid them to no avail. This lesson looks extremely interesting, involving music, movement with skits, and a comic strip done online to top it off. • WritingFix: a Left-Brained Writing Prompt...The Start & Stop Game: Adjectives: The Start & Stop Game:Adjective s This looks like such a cool way for students to get started in writing! I think it would work for all grade levels and it would allow for students to practice their parts of speech while expanding their vocabularies. Take a minute to check it out - it's great! • : This is a second grade teacher's website. I just really loved the way she organized her writing binders with a section for each part of the writing process. She color codes the sections and has her students use different colored pens for the different stages. I thought it was really well done and could really help keep kids organized. She teaches second grade but it could definitely be very useful for the older grades. Contributed by Sine Friel
  • ReadWriteThink : Lesson Plan: Connect With Low-Literate Families: A Three-Tiered Approach: Connect With Low-Literate Families: A Three-Tiered Approach This lesson looks like a great way to assess the assistance students will be able to get at home as well as provide a procedure to assist those who will not be provided as much learning support. • Six Traits: This would be a great site when working with centers. I can think of several students in my class last year who would have benefited from this site. The great part is that they can get on here at any point in time and work on story writing. I'm thinking that it's a place I would suggest to parents in order to help their students at home. • ReadWriteThink : Lesson Plan: Click, Clack, Moo: Reading Word Family Words: K-2: Literacy Strand/Literac y Engagement Lesson: Click, Clack, Moo: Reading Word Family Words This one also looked interesting. • ReadWriteThink : Lesson Plan: It's Too Loud in Here! Teamwork in the Classroom: K-2 Literacy Strand/Literac y Engagement Lesson: It's Too Loud in Here! Teamwork in the Classroom This lesson combines classroom rules, community, reading, writing, and cooperative learning. This lesson has students listen to a read-aloud, manage small group discussions, and creating artistic representation s of classroom rules. It looks like a good way to review classroom rules or create them at the beginning of the year. Contributed by Marisa Foley
  • WritingFix: Mentor Text Lessons...iPod s Across the Curriculum: I'm a huge supporter of using music in the class in order to teach something across in an interesting, interactive way. I used the Pat Benatar's song to delve into metaphors, something my students absolutely loved and learned a fairly complex topic. There is such a great deal of musical lessons here, and all can be adjusted for grade level. The more varied we can get in our lessons, the more our students can be engaged and the more they will retain. Contributed by Francisco Castillo-Fierr o
