Dans son dernier baromètre thématique des journaux télévisés, l?Institut national de l?audiovisuel (INASTAT) s?intéresse à la place des catastrophes et faits divers dans les JT. L?accident de l?Airbus Rio de Janeiro-Paris, le 1er juin, est « en passe de figurer parmi les catastrophes les plus médiatisées », note l?INA. Avant l?Airbus, sur les dix dernières années, les catastrophes ayant fait l?objet du plus de sujets sont, en ordre décroissant, le tsunami en Asie du Sud-Est (Noël 2004), la tempête en France (décembre 1999) et l?explosion de l?usine AZF (septembre 2001).
