  • Adoodle Added to Biotech Stock Review Watch: The company's first product to reach commercializat ion is called NOXO, which has the ability to alter the brains ability (temporarily) to smell horrific odors. The odor is still there and it's not masked. The brain does not however, register its normal reaction to it. The uniquely formulated NOXO is based on advanced olfactory perception altering technology developed by Dr. V Ruth Pinney who is a director of Adoodle and who also directs the research at the company's new research center in The Woodlands, Texas. ..."We are very pleased to initiate and provide ongoing coverage of Adoodle, as it seeks additional methods designed to monetize this olfaction technology beyond odor inhibition.&qu ot; ...The company intends to complete the development of new products so that human behaviors can be modified by selectively inhibiting or changing chemo-percepti on or by causing a selected chemo-percepti ons take place.

  • [Signs and symptoms, etiologies and clinical cours...[Ann Otolaryngol Chir Cervicofac. 2000] - PubMed Result: Products which produced the parosmic perception were identified by nearly all the patients (85%). The most frequently cited products were coffee, perfume, certain fruits (melon, banana, citric fruits), tobacco or chocolate. All these products contain tannic acid, a water-soluble polyphenol with many biological properties (influence feeding habits and metabolism in the rate, antioxidant and antimutagenic properties). Thus acid tannic could induce parosmic perception due to its antioxidant properties susceptible of integrating the P-450 cytochromes of the mucosal cells or olfactory neuroepitheliu m supporting cells.

  • Anosmia secondary to acute rhinitis: clinical sig...[Ann Otolaryngol Chir Cervicofac. 1999]: We report here a series of 118 patients (79% women) who developed dysomia after acute rhinitis. Mean age was 59 years. Mean follow-up after the initial rhinal episode was 36 months. The dominant olfactory disorder was anosmia (71% of the patients) and dysgeusia in 71%. The prognosis of anosmia was poor as it persisted in 50% of the patients. Six patients (5%) recovered normal olfaction after a delay of 11 months. Partial recovery was observed in 45% of the patients with a mean 14-month delay. Recovery of olfaction was thus observed within the first year. Parosmia was also frequent (59% of the patients). In two out of three cases, parosmia persisted. Improvement generally occurred during the first 18 months. These olfactory disorders have an impact on the patients' psychic equilibrim since a depressive syndrome was observed in 60% of the cases.
