  • PDM - Doctor not to be punished for sterilising Roma: The Czech Constitutional Court (US) has dismissed the complaint lodged by Romany woman Iveta Cervenakova who wanted two doctors who sterilised her, allegedly without her consent, in Ostrava, North Moravia, in 1997, to be punished. Cervenakova challenged the decision of the police who shelved a criminal complaint against the two doctors.

The Central Bohemia Regional court, which is located in Prague, ordered a hospital in Kutná Hora to pay 30,000 crowns ? that?s about 1,500 U.S. dollars ? to the woman, who became pregnant a year after being sterilised at Kutná Hora hospital four years ago.
