  • The Cadillac World Thorium Fuel | TheBlogISMine Dot Com: Loren Kulesus has unveiled its own concept car known as the Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept (WTF). The Cadillac WTF was designed with high-quality materials that are built to last 100 years of daily use without any maintenance and also on the same fuel source. The vehicle?s major systems have their redundancies where if failure occurs, the

  • OpEdNews » Revolutionary Thorium Reactor - The most environmentall y beneficial power source on earth: There are many so-called "Generati on IV" nuclear reactor designs being studied to replace the world's aging fleet of light water nuclear power plants. Light water nuclear reactors use ordinary H2O to moderate nuclear fission, for cooling, and to create steam for running turbines. All of the newer reactor designs have clear advantages over the old light water standard. China and South Africa are rapidly perusing meltdown proof pebble bed reactor technology, and the Idaho National Laboratory is experimenting with prismatic block reactors, reported to be even more efficient and stable. Most of the proposed new designs represent evolutionary improvements, but the LFT (liquid fluoride thorium) reactor design is truly revolutionary. LFT reactors are an earth friendly power source that solves all of the major problems associated with nuclear power.

  • Energy from Thorium: How much thorium would it take to power the whole world?: In 2003, it was estimated that the world produced 16.5 trllion kilowatt-hours of electricity. If this had all been produced by liquid-fluorid e thorium reactors, this would have required 1500 metric tonnes of thorium. Future energy projections foresee electrical production reaching 21.4 trillion kilowatt-hours by 2015. To bring the entire world's population up to the level of the average American' s electrical consumption would require 80 trillion kilowatt-hours . Is 1500 metric tonnes a lot?
  • Energy from Thorium: Welcome and Introduction: There are four basic nuclear "fuels&qu ot; found in nature: deuterium, lithium, thorium, and uranium. Deuterium is an isotope of hydrogen that is found wherever hydrogen is found (such as water). Lithium is a light metal found in lake evaporates. In a traditional fusion reactor, lithium is converted to tritium (another hydrogen isotope) and then fused with deuterium, releasing energy and additional neutrons. B Fission of uranium or thorium, on the other hand, is much easier because neutrons are used to induce destabilizatio n and splitting of the nucleus. The neutron is uncharged, so there is no magnetic repulsion to contend with in the fission process. No magnetic confinement or vacuum chambers are required either. The downside of fission is the generation of unstable, neutron-rich fission products that seek stability through successive beta decay.
