  • So Much For Wise Latinas - HUMAN EVENTS: Sonia Sotomayor: Obama's Justice-design ate Sotomayor threw out their lawsuit in a sneaky, unsigned opinion -- the judicial equivalent of "talk to the hand." She upheld the city's race discrimination against white and Hispanic firemen on the grounds that the test had a "disparat e impact" on blacks, meaning that it failed to promote some magical percentage of blacks. This strict quota regime was dressed up by the city -- and by Sotomayor' ;s opinion -- as a reasonable reaction to the threat of lawsuits by blacks who were not promoted. That's a complicated way of saying: Racial quotas are peachy.

  • New Mobility: The magazine for active wheelchair users: And Geeta Shroff? "She' ;s also a scam. She has no background in stem cells, has never done anything in stem cells, never published anything in stem cells, and all of a sudden she comes out with something that she claims are human embryonic stem cells. They've not allowed anyone to look at these things, they've provided no evidence that these are human embryonic stem cells. And what is also not being published is there are multiple lawsuits against her by people who claim that she has done nothing, and there are a number of investigations . Geeta Shroff herself would take patients and tell them that she's going to cure them ? even before she sees them and examines them."

  • CareCure Forums - View Single Post - Amanda Boxtel - Her success with Human Embryonic Stem Cell: This is simply unacceptable. [UNACCEPTABLE TO WHOM?] If she is keeping it a secret for patent reasons, she can file a provisional patent and retain the rights. Without evidence for these cells and the fact that she has no training in any of the diseases that she is treating and no background or experience in the isolation, growth, and characterizati on of human embryonic stem cells makes me very suspicious. It is sort of like a hairdresser claiming that she has performed heart transplants, and not saying how.
  • CareCure Forums - View Single Post - Amanda Boxtel - Her success with Human Embryonic Stem Cell: The suggestion that I belong to an ?establishment ? that is preventing dissemination of information because it might hurt me or cause me to lose money is not only untrue but, in my opinion, offensive. I have not reviewed any manuscript submitted from Shroff nor advised anybody not to invite her to present at any meeting. For a long time, I even refrained from making any critical remarks about her therapy or claims, giving her the benefit of the doubt.
  • REPORTS OF PATIENTS TREATED BY DR. GEETA SHROFF, INDIA (Human Embryonic Stem Cells) - Page 42 - CareCure Forums: Let me take an example of two Australian scientists (Barry Marshall and Robin Warren) who recently received the Nobel Prize in 2006 for their work showing that bacterial infection by H. pylori causes gastric and duodenal ulcers. It took them over two decades of work to prove their case for this now widely accepted cause of stomach ulcers. I remember in the 1970's prescribing antacids to patients and then H2 receptor blockers (Tagamet) in the 1980's. Doctors were just not ready to accept that one bacterium is the cause of this highly prevalent disease that probably kille
  • CareCure Forums - View Single Post - REPORTS OF PATIENTS TREATED BY DR. GEETA SHROFF, INDIA (Human Embryonic Stem Cells): I agree with you that lack of evidence just means we don't know. But surely you would agree that it has gone far beyond just lack of evidence. When Geeta Shroff has treated hundreds of patients, charged them millions for the treatments, and have made incredible claims of cure for many years, the excuses that "there is no data" and "we don't know" are no longer acceptable. For years, I gave Dr. Shroff the benefit of the doubt and withheld criticism when many others were condemning her. But, I can't give her that benefit any more. For her to claim that she is curing people with human embryonic stem cells but not to provide the evidence that she is actually transplanting such cells and curing people is tantamount to saying that she has the biggest diam
  • CareCure Forums - View Single Post - REPORTS OF PATIENTS TREATED BY DR. GEETA SHROFF, INDIA (Human Embryonic Stem Cells): She will not allow anybody to to test the cells. She does not say why she is injecting the cells intramuscularl y (by the way, it is not going to reach the spinal cord when injected into the muscle). All the people who received her therapy desperately want the therapy to work. Eric, I can assure you that Dr. Shroff's procedure is not what you seem to think it may be. First, we don't even know that what she has are pluripotent human embryonic stem cells. While her patent (the PCT of which has been published) essentially refers to the isolation and use of primary human embryonic stem cells (as opposed to cell lines), I understand that the cells that she is giving to patients come form a single cell line. In the end, it doesn't matter because there is no way of telling what she is injecting into people since she will not allow the cells to be inspected a
  • CareCure Forums - View Single Post - Stem cell treatment helps Boxtel regain strength: You are most likely aware that there are two large human clinical spinal cord injury trials in the near future. One being ChinaSciNet with Wise, the Administator of Carecure. The other being Dr. Hans Keirstead & Geron (based in CA). As you have already spoken with Wise, I was wondering if you have ever relayed your treatment experience to Dr. Kierstead. You know he is a member of Carecure, you could easily e-mail him. As you are only the second patient in America to receive this treatment for cord injury, I would imagine he would be interested in your experience.
